Biosimilars Forum Supports Inclusion of Biosimilars in the Medicare Coverage Gap Discount Program

Washington, D.C., February 12, 2018 – The Biosimilars Forum supports inclusion of biosimilars in the Medicare Coverage Gap Discount Program (CGDP), or donut hole, as part of the 2018 Budget Agreement. The policy requires biosimilar manufacturers to pay the discounts paid by their brand competitors, allowing them to participate on a level playing field, and drive savings to the millions of Medicare beneficiaries who receive coverage through the Part D program. Further, the policy encourages biosimilar uptake that will ultimately yield lower costs and increased access for patients.
